CHARACTERISTICS OF STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF THE HEAD OF THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION`S MANAGEMENT COMPETENCE

Abstract

Management competence of a manager is understood as a type of professional competence. In the author's opinion, managerial competence, in addition to professional basic knowledge and skills, should be supplemented with formed value orientations, motives for managerial activity, self-awareness and the surrounding world, the style of relations with the people with whom the manager works, his general culture, and the ability to self-develop creative potential. This type of competence involves the formation of certain knowledge, skills and corresponding attitudes, and values of the manager regarding professional activity. There is no single approach to defining the essence and content of the concept of "management competence" in scientific studies. The structural components of the formation of managerial competence are analyzed. Emphasis is placed on approaches that define the structure of managerial competence, the main ones being the functional and personal components. The personal component, which is a priority for managers, consists of cognitive, professional, motivational, reflective and personal components. The characteristics of the personal component include the formation of a personal self-concept; adequacy of selfassessment; ability to influence others, mastery of techniques of self-realization and development of individuality; the ability to project one's further professional development; creativity and ability to creative activity. A manager, who has developed self-awareness, can adequately assess his own activity and opportunities to perform management functions concerning making responsible and effective decisions. Outlining the motivational component of the manager's managerial competence it is emphasized that the content of the former consists of the manager's awareness of his own capabilities, professional intentions, system of values and value orientations of the individual. The main factors contributing to the optimization of the structure of managerial competence of the head of the educational institution have been determined.
